Selecting Vacuum Cast Molds

SICAM pioneered the development of silicone rapid tools produced from Stereolithography patterns and since 1991 have constructed thousands of silicone molds. SICAM's quality and experience in tool design, pattern fabrication, and tool construction is second to none in the RP industry.

Making a VCM Tool

Steps in making a VCM tool:

  1. You create a 3-D Printed object as a pattern
  2. The pattern is finished with the required texture and smoothness.
  3. The pattern is suspended in a mold box and gates, runners and inserts are added.
  4. This mold box is filled with a liquid two part silicon rubber that cures to a solid.
  5. The mold is than cut open along the parting line and the pattern removed.
